ADVENTURE KIT

Philadelphia, PA

The Adventure Kit is a pack of playful exploration tools that can be checked out from the library to encourage residents to discover “nature in their neighborhood”. Our team led a series of monthly Saturday Strolls through the summer, focused on a variety of ecological topics, such as plants, birds, rocks, and soil. We experimented with a variety of activities and tools that helped us to create the final kit.

Each Adventure Kit contains a magnifying glass, compass, bug box, bug scooper, flashlight, pen, and a ‘Nature In My Neighborhood’ guidebook with open ended prompts that invite kids to explore. The kits were divided between the Kingsessing and Cecil B. Moore Free Library branches.
