Playful Learning Design Manual
What if??? What if we could transform cities into playful learning centers that oozed with fun opportunities for families? What if, on any given neighborhood block, we could find families playing together, and building skills in math, science, language, and reading while they played? What if children not only learned – but learned how to learn – experimenting, taking risks, and gaining confidence by playing in everyday places. What if?
The goal of this project is to position Philadelphia as a "Playful Learning City" by articulating a vision, producing a playbook to guide design efforts, piloting and evaluating playful learning activities in public spaces, and increasing understanding of the science of playful learning through the playbook and play passport.
This project is a partnership with the Temple Infant and Child Lab and the William Penn Foundation.
Preliminary drafts will be published in May 2018. Final publications will be May 2019.
