Play Terrains

philadelphia, pa

This project envisions outdoor play spaces at the Cecil B. Moore and Kingsessing Branches of the Free Library of Philadelphia modelled on topographic maps of the watersheds around each branch. The play spaces serve to promote active, playful learning; provide space for social gathering and environmental education; and connect residents to nearby Civic Commons assets and Environmental Education Centers at Bartram’s Garden/Mile and the Discovery Center/East Fairmount Park Reservoir through joint programming efforts.

This project is a partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia, Roofmeadow, Interpret Green, and the William Penn Foundation.

Construction will be complete summer 2019.

The project was featured by Philadelphia Neighborhoods and Grid Magazine.
