Junior Designer

Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in design or affiliated field (architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, graphic design, or art)

  • 0-3 years work experience

Technical Skills:

  • Research + distillation

  • Social media + website maintenance

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Microsoft Office

  • AutoCAD

Creative Skills:

  • Event planning

  • Model making (computer + physical)

  • Proficient hand drawing

  • Graphic design

Soft Skills:

  • Clear communication

  • Empathetic (particularly with children)

  • Flexible

  • Open minded

About the Position:

This is an opportunity for someone to support a dynamic and growing team of designers and researchers.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about building better play, is a self starter and good at managing their time.

The work focuses on design and research projects in the Philadelphia region and northeast, as well as in the midwest. This position does not require travel.

What you will do: 

  • Provide support for design and research projects, from research to presentation and graphic design development

  • Coordinate with a variety of partners, from clients, to funders, to designers, engineers and manufacturers 

  • Work on all phases from concept through construction administration 

  • Develop details, specifications, drawing sets, and presentation packages     

  • Develop community engagement sessions and materials

  • Support social media accounts and website development

Senior Designer

Background:

  • Master’s Degree in design (architecture, landscape architecture, or urban design/planning)

  • 7-10 years work experience

Technical Skills:

  • Significant AutoCAD experience

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of Rhino and Vray a plus

  • Project management, for staffing and budgeting

Creative Skills:

  • Innovative designer

  • Model making (computer + physical)

  • Proficient hand drawing

  • Graphic design

Soft Skills:

  • Clear communication

  • Empathetic (particularly with children)

  • Flexible

  • Open minded

About the Position:

This is an opportunity for someone to play a large role in design and research direction, the establishment of office standards, and mentoring of junior staff. 

We are looking for someone who is an excellent designer, has experience in public work, and is capable of taking on a leadership role.  

The work focuses on design projects in the Philadelphia region and northeast, as well as in the midwest. Research projects span across the United States, and will require some travel (5-6 times per year).

What you will do: 

  • Provide direction for design and research projects 

  • Coordinate with a variety of partners, from clients, to funders, to designers, engineers and manufacturers 

  • Work on all phases from concept through construction administration 

  • Manage team production of details, specifications, drawing sets, and presentation packages     

  • Develop technical solutions 

  • Evaluate and select materials, products, and manufacturers

  • Manage project timelines and budgets

  • Travel to project sites (5-6 times per year) 

  • Develop community engagement sessions and materials

  • Mentor junior staff
